No matter how careful you are during construction work, whether you have covered the floors and furniture with plastic or paper, in some places there are always small drops of paint, a thick layer of dust, drops of plaster or cement. It doesn’t matter if you have done a complete renovation, a fireplace in the bedroom or even changed the wallpaper in the kitchen, after the repair work the house always becomes dirty. Therefore, the house needs a complete cleaning after the construction workers leave.
Sometimes getting the strongest detergents and scrubbing is not enough. The question is how to deal with all this dirt and dust. If not cleaned in time, dust can cause many diseases and allergies. To make your life easier, you should read the following lines with our eight tips for cleaning after construction work.

1. Where to start to clean from?
Cleaning after renovations and construction is easy. The first task is always to open the windows to air out the smell of glue, plaster, wood or any repairs you have done so far. After that, you can remove larger items such as cement bags, broken tiles, torn carpets, etc. Then start cleaning from the ceiling down, making sure to pay attention to every nook and cranny, lights, windows, walls, furniture and floor.
You can clean the walls with a dry or wet cloth depending on what they are covered with - paint or wallpaper. Use all the "weapons" available and do not think about saving on detergents and effort. The more effort you put in, the better the results will be for your home.
2. Cleaning the bathroom
Replacing a sink or bathtub, installing a shower or even changing all the tiles in the bathroom are very dirty and slow jobs. Your first task will of course be to clean all the plumbing fixtures and large debris left over from the renovation. In every cleaning after renovation, always start in stages, starting with the largest and ending with the smallest item. Do not rush to disinfect the bathroom tiles with a cleaner.
First, clean with a dry microfiber cloth and then start with wet cleaning. This way, the dust falls off more easily. If you notice any remaining traces of glue, clean them immediately with a strong solvent or nail polish remover.
3. Polishing the windows
Windows and frames are usually covered with a lot of dust. If you have silicone or glue residue, first use a scraper. You can remove traces of paint on the edges of the window panes with a cotton swab soaked in nail polish remover.
However, to avoid similar problems in the future, you can wipe the corners and edges of the window with soap so that the paint does not stick. The next step is to wipe the windows, frames and sills with a cloth dampened with a solution of lukewarm water and two or three tablespoons of vinegar. It works perfectly. Another way, of course, is to use a regular window cleaner and a cloth or paper.
4. Scraping traces from silicone
If you find traces of silicone, do not be quick to rub it with a wet cloth as it will only make the place more dirty. Wait until it dries and then gently peel it off or remove it with a scraper.
5. Cleaning spots
If you are having difficulty cleaning a stain or spot after repair work, try using a solution of ammonia and water.
6. A smell of fresh paint
If the smell of fresh paint bothers you, place a bowl of baking soda in the room and it will easily absorb the unpleasant odor.
7. Floor cleaning
Cleaning the floor is essential and is always left for last. You will have to move things, carry them back and forth, etc., and many things will fall on the floor and you don’t want to double the work, do you?
Before using any cleaner, first wipe the entire surface with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust. You can even do this twice for best results. Once the surface is clean, you can now apply a specific flooring product. Wipe well and carefully and let it absorb for some time. Then clean the sideboards as well before putting all the furniture and carpets back. It is better to think of a floor cleaner that will protect the wood from scratches and prolong its life.
A solution of one liter of water and two or three tablespoons of lemon juice (or vinegar) works wonders and works to clean the floor from lime, cement or latex stains.
8. Full house renovation
For those who have built a new home, this task is the most difficult. The reason is simple: cleaning can take the whole day. The amount of cleaning products and the effort you will use is enormous. Windows, floors, walls, ceilings, lighting, furniture, all of this must be cleaned under the brush to get excellent results so that you can safely show off your new home.
